West Kent Speakers Club Meeting – Maidstone – September 28th

Chaired by Terry Nunn, this evening included three set speeches, a topics session delivered by Rowena Hawtin and a General Evaluation by Monty Knight-Olds.

Claire McConchie, in her first speech at the club, delivered an impressive A1 “Making a Start” on the subject of her childhood growing up on a farm in Cornwall. Entitled “Clotted Cream and Cornish Pasties”, members were treated to a gastronomic trip. This speech was evaluated by Ravi Kalsi.

Next up was Ann Etridge who spoke about punctuality and her struggles with it as a child and later as an adult. This was her A4 “Use of Gestures and Body Language” speech and was successfully evaluated by Fred Lemont. Members were also treated to another A4 speech, this time by Alison Nixon, on how to reverse the signs of aging from the inside out. Covering healthy eating and looking after your body, it was the perfect contrast to the gastronomic delights of Claire’s speech. Alison was successfully evaluated by Sue Shaw.

The evening’s topic session was evaluated by Ray Finn and the evening summed up by Monty Knight-Olds.
