Public speaking is all about effective use of your voice to convey meaning, amplify the power and improve the overall delivery of the speech. This assignment examines the use of pitch, pace and pause to add clarity, emphasis and audibility.
Good speakers know how to use their voice so that they develop their own personal style and avoid a boring mumbling monotone of delivery. The speed at which a sentence is delivered can convey an urgency or a sense of drama. A pause can build anticipation and the vocal variety can keep the audience interested, as well as add emphasis.
Your evaluator will be looking for all of these skills, using the following headings, and – if successful – you will have gained your interim certificate of achievement, which is issued by the Association of Speakers’ Clubs.
