For beginners the speeches are:

B1 Making A Start - a speech which introduces you to Speakers Club and you to public speaking
B2 Mean What You Say - a speech which shows you can speak with conviction and passion
B3 Speech Construction - an assignment which shows you understand how to write an effective and well structured speech
B4 Use Of Gestures - demonstrate your ability to add impact and emphasis to your speech through the use of gestures
B5 Use Your Voice - your voice is the most powerful tool when speaking (obviously) this assignment shows you how to use it for maximum impact

On successful completion of the first five assigned speeches an Interim Certificate of Achievement issued by the ASC is awarded.

B6 Vocabulary & Word Pictures - add depth and meaning to your speeches  by using more varied vocabulary and interesting words
B7 Use Of Notes - we all need to use notes to help us speak. Learn to use them effectively and unobtrusively
B8 Use Of Humour - even the most serious speech can be made more powerful by the effective and well timed use of humour
B9 Audience Rapport - grab your audience's attention and make them feel your speech has true meaning
B10 The Masterpiece - the culmination of all the previous speaking assignments - your chance to shine!

On successful completion of all ten assigned speeches an Ordinary Certificate of Achievement issued by the ASC is awarded. Members may then progress to the Advanced Section in which there are ten speech assignments.

F1 Impromptu Speech
F2 Outside Assignment
F3 Use Of Microphone & PA System
F4 Use Of Visual Aids
F5 Chairmanship Skills
F6 Lecturing
F7 Business Presentations
F9 After Dinner Speech
F9 The Written Speech
F10 Speaking Without Notes

On successful completion of any five advanced speeches an Advanced
Certificate of Achievement issued by ASC is awarded.

Public Speaking Assigments

Learning to speak in public is both fun and challenging!

Here at West Kent Speakers Club we carefully guide our members through a programme of speech assignments which is contained in the "Speakers Guide" published by the Association of Speakers Clubs. The Speakers Guide is issued to new members on joining the West Kent Speakers Club so they can see a detailed explanation of each assignment and how to prepare for them.
